If the audience is mostly imaginary, why hasn't the fear worn off on its own? Because a loop keeps it fed. Today we lay that loop out on the table, piece by piece, so you can recognize yours while it is running.

The circuit, step by step

The loop runs in a predictable order, and it is worth walking around it slowly once:

You enter the situation — the meeting, the party, the queue with a chatty neighbor.
Attention turns inward. Your attention is a single beam, and at this moment it swivels away from the room and onto you.
You monitor the felt self. The trembling hands, the rising heat, the fog starting in your mind. Every reading arrives at maximum, because you are reading it from inside.
You miss what is actually happening. The question they asked, the joke, the fact that they looked nervous too. The beam was pointed the wrong way, so the room's mostly friendly data never got in.
Performance feels catastrophic. The only footage you have comes from the inside camera, the one wired to your pounding heart, and from that angle an ordinary conversation looks like a disaster in progress. The felt disaster gets filed as fact.
Props and exits. You rehearse the next line while they talk, grip the phone, go quiet, angle toward the door, or leave.
The verdict. I survived because I hid. The rehearsed lines saved me, the early exit saved me, the drink saved me.
Fear confirmed. Next time the alarm rings louder, and the loop hands it the evidence.

Why the loop never gets tested

Notice what the loop never allows: a fair test. Every survival gets explained away by whichever prop was on duty, so the belief underneath (without hiding, I would be exposed) never has to face the evidence. The video's sentence is the one to keep: the loop doesn't survive on danger, it survives on the way you cope with it.

Where we're heading

Every station on the loop has a session with its name on it: the inward attention in week two, the props in week three, the predictions in week four, the avoidance in week five. The verdict station your log is already working on. You do not have to fight the whole loop at once, and you are not asked to. We take it apart one station at a time.
