Five small steps today: your crisis-resources card, two short baselines, a few safety questions, your goals, and your log. No skills yet — just the equipment and the starting line.

Welcome

If you're here, you know what a storm feels like. Something hits. The body floods. And an urge shows up — send the message, say the thing, pour the drink, spend the money. At that moment, the urge feels like the only door in the room.

Here is the first thing to hold on to. The storm is real — and it ends. Every storm you have ever been in ended.

This program is DBT crisis-survival training. I'll be straight with you about what these skills do. They don't solve your problems. They don't make the storm feel good. They do one job: get you through the spike without adding damage. Feeling better comes after. Not making it worse comes first.

One honest expectation to set now: these skills feel almost stupidly physical. Cold water. Stopping your hands. Counting a breath. That's the point — the storm is physical, and the skills meet it where it lives.

How the six weeks work

  • Six weeks, in a fixed order. How storms work. Then the body brakes. Then bridging the hours. Then the urge itself. Then the storms that carry something real. And last — your own kit.
  • The engine is a crisis log. Ninety seconds, after a storm passes — never during. Trigger, peak, urge, what you used, what it cost. Plus a twenty-second check-in each evening.
  • The log builds your personal skill ranking — which skill drops the storm fastest in your body, not in a textbook. By week six, your top three become a kit: a card on your phone, real objects in a real drawer. Equipment that's there before the next storm is.

One piece of equipment before anything else

This program teaches skills for emotional storms. It is not a crisis service. If you ever have thoughts of ending your life, or of harming yourself, that is not a storm to ride out alone. That's when you bring in people — right away.

So we start by setting up your crisis-resources card. Real numbers, for your region. One tap from every screen in this program. That card isn't small print. It's equipment. Ambulances carry oxygen they hope not to use. Same idea.

After that: a short baseline, a few safety questions — answer them straight, they shape your skill set — and your crisis log, ready for the next storm. Let's get you equipped.
